Stacked Pillar Candle
An easy way to use up leftover wax and make a beautiful and unique candle.
You Will Need:
- Wax Cut-outs (See Pillar Embellishment Tutorial)
- Pre-Tabbed Wick (of the appropriate size for your cut-outs)
When you make your wax cut-outs to embellish a pillar candle, you should have quite a few leftover shapes. If not, you can follow steps 1-5 of the Pillar Candle Embellishment Tutorial to create the shapes.
Simply thread a pre-tabbed wick through the hole in each of your wax shapes and push all the way down onto the wick tab.
Arrange the shapes as desired. You can align them for a straight shape, or twist them for a spiral look.
For better adhesion between the layers, you can melt the top of each shape with a heat gun and press down with each new shape.
When you have used up all of your wax shapes, trim your wick to about 1/4" and enjoy!

Great posting. Full of fresh ideas. Keep them coming.
i really liked the way of using the unwanted wax,but i just want to know, what should be added to the melted wax to get that shine and stiffness.....
Wow what a great idea. I have a 4 inch snow flake cookie cutter that is very ornate, and will make a great tiered and twisted candle. I think I am goiing to put in some angel dust and make it white. Your wax is so white that it will be gorgeous, and the scent, I think will be your winter wonderland. Gotta go, I can't wait to try it. I will post when I am done with a picture. Thanks to everyone for the great ideas. Sarah,
This is a really fantastic idea. Too many candles these days are similar in design, especially candle tins or jar candles. Keep up the good work.
Absolutely LOVE it!! Just started making candles 3 weeks ago and after reading this instruction, I made candles with every cookie cutter I came across in my kitchen! Thank you for these VERY helpful illustrated instructions, for someone that's just starting, they're the best!... Keep more coming..
... is there an instruction on how to make Botanical candles? My mom bought one from Pottery Barn and I'm more interested now in how it's made -would love to make them for upcoming holidays! Thanks Peak, you're #1 :)
Excellent tips! I use a lot of candles and end up with a lot of leftover wax. This is a brilliant idea to use them Thanks!
I think will be your winter wonderland. Gotta go, I can't wait to try it. I will post when I am done with a picture.
What a great idea for new candles makers, and especially children. It will help build their confidence to try other things with candle making. I love what you are working with in ideas.
Hello Mayra!
I hope this doesn't come too late, but we used a cookie cutter in order to achieve the shapes for this candle, and you are able to use any cookie cutter you wish. I love the idea to use a snowflake cookie cutter like Sarah wrote about! Enjoy experimenting!
